CIVIC HEAD INSPIRED BY 'COLLIERS' REQUIEM'!
The Civic Head of Ashington Town Council popped in to see the guys at Ashington & District Male Voice Choir last night!
Councillor Caroline Ball was officially presenting the Choir with a cheque for £2,000. The Choir had been successful in obtaining a grant from the Town Council and you can see the delight of members.
George Blanchflower, chairman, confirmed that the grant was a great boost and would help the Choir to deliver more community-focussed events in #ashington, purchase new pr material to help attract more new members and promote the Choir, purchase new music to expand their repertoire in 2025 and provide musical training for members.
Last night was the second of the Choir's summer 'Learn to Sing' sessions and 26 members came along during what is normally their summer break.
Councillor Ball praised the Choir for the ongoing work which they were doing to promote male voice singing in the area and offer a rewarding social experience. Wishing the Choir every success in their ongoing recruitment drive for new members, she explained how emotional and inspired she was whenever she heard the Choir sing 'The Colliers' Requiem'!
