KEEPING THE SOUND OF COAL ALIVE!

It wasn't just famous for some of its sporting personalities and being known as 'The largest mining village in the world', but it is home to the traditional Ashington & District Male Voice Choir!

#ashington set within the heart of this rich cultural and heritage region; it is not surprising that the local Choir is keeping alive the 'Song of Coal' and many more regional songs. Perhaps one of the most famous and passionate songs about coal mining is 'The Colliers' Requiem', which is a favourite of the Choir, and was written for 'Fell 'Em Doon' performed at the Ashington Festival in 1994.

The pictures show the guys rehearsing this number on Thursday evening for their 'Annual Concert' at Holy Sepulchre Church in Ashington on Saturday, 18th May 2024 at 3.00pm. Ticket information can be found at https://www.ashingtonmalevoicechoir.org.uk/pages/pv.asp....
