True Mark of Respect for Coal Miners!
Ashington & District Male Voice Choir welcome you to the musical video, 'True Mark of Respect for Coal Miners!' The Choir performed again at the Memorial Service at the Northumberland Miners' Picnic at Woodhorn Museum on Saturday, 8th June 2024. The performance was appropriate to recognize the 40th Anniversary of the Coal Miners' Strike in the United Kingdom. 'The Colliers' Requiem' was performed as a 'True Mark of Respect for Coal Miners!'. The song was written by Derek Hobbs and Mike Kirkup for 'Fell 'Em Doon' which was performed for the first time as part of 'A Century of Coal' during the Ashington Festival in October 1994.
Lasting Tribute to Brave Coal Miners!
Ashington & District Male Voice Choir welcome you to the musical video, 'Lasting Tribute to Brave Coal Miners!' The Choir returned to perform at the Memorial Service at the Northumberland Miners' Picnic on Saturday, 8th June 2024. This was appropriate being the 40th Anniversary of the Coal Miners' Strike in the United Kingdom. On a sunny but breezy morning, the Choir performed outdoors with the Ashington Colliery Band to lead the singing of the congregational hymn, 'Abide with Me'. This was a fitting 'Lasting Tribute to Brave Coal Miners!'.
