Enhanced Programme of Community Engagement and Concerts in 2024 to 2025

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir has traditionally held its Annual Concert in Ashington.

Thanks to support from Ashington Town Council, the Choir has been able to participate in an increased number of local events during the year to enhance community engagement. These events have also helped to raise the profile of the Choir and attract potential new members.

A review of the Annual Concert and the various community events are summarised below:


Saturday, 18th May 2024 - Annual Concert at The Church of the Holy Sepulchre

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir held their 'Annual Concert' on the afternoon of Saturday, 18th May 2024 at Holy Sepulchre Church in Ashington.

The guest artists were 'Eclectic Lite'.

Saturday, 8th June 2024 - Memorial Service at Woodhorn Museum

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir returned to perform at the Memorial Service at the Northumberland Miners' Picnic in Woodhorn Museum on Saturday, 8th June 2024.

The Choir sang 'The Colliers' Requiem' before the laying of wreaths and supported the congregational singing of 'Abide with Me'.

Sunday, 7th July 2024 - Ashington Community Fair

Members of Ashington & District Male Voice Choir attended Ashington Community Fair on Sunday, 7th July 2024.

They were there to 'meet and greet' the community.

Saturday, 3rd August 2024 - Hirst Welfare Centre

Members of Ashington & District Male Voice Choir attended the Summer Fair at the Hirst Welfare Centre on Saturday, 3rd August 2024.

They were there to 'meet and greet' the community.

Friday, 20th September 2024 - Asda in Ashington

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir gave two performances at Asda in Ashington on Friday, 20th September 2024.

The Choir was helping to support the Wansbeck Valley Food Bank.

Friday, 25th October 2024 - The Maritime Centre, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir gave two performances at the 'Celebrating Over 70 Years of Town Twinning' event on Friday, 25th October 2024.

Guests from the City of Remscheid in Germany were welcomed by Ashington and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Town Councils.

Sunday, 10th November 2024 - Ashington Remembrance Day Service

Members of Ashington & District Male Voice Choir supported Remembrance Day Services on Sunday, 10th November 2024.

They were at Ashington and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea at 10.45am and Bedlington at 2.15pm.

Thursday, 28th November 2024 - Ashington 'Christmas Lights Switch-On'

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir supported the 'Ashington Christmas Lights Switch-On' at the YMCA in Ashington on Thursday, 28th November 2024.

The Choir performed a selection of festive songs.
