Heritage

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir is proud to promote the regional heritage of Southeast Northumberland and Tyneside.

The Choir already performs a series of coal-mining and Northumbrian/Tyneside folk songs in its concert programmes.

Coal-mining songs include those written by local musicians, Derek Hobbs and the late Mike Kirkup, and include 'Song of the Coal', 'The Colliers' Requiem' and 'Yard Seam, Bothal High!' from 'Fell 'em Doon'.

Many local folk songs include arrangements of 'Bobby Shafto', 'Dance to ye Daddy', 'The Keel Row' and 'The Water of Tyne'.

You can learn more about the Choir through a series of information sheets, which can be accessed by following this link, Heritage Reviews.

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir has just launched a new initiative to promote the Heritage of Ashington. You can learn all about this initiative by following this link, Ashington Heritage Music.
