Enhanced Programme of Community Engagement and Concerts in 2024 to 2025


Newbiggin-by-the-Sea


Ashington & District Male Voice Choir has held a 'Celebrating Local Heroes' Charity Concert at St. Bartholomew's Church in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea on Sunday, 20th October 2024.

Thanks to support from Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Town Council, the Choir has been able to participate in an increased number of local events during the year to enhance community engagement. These events have also helped to raise the profile of the Choir and attract potential new members.

The Choir had hoped to have participated in one of the summer concerts at the bandstand in the town during the summer. A review of the October Charity Concert and the various other community events are summarised below:


Sunday, 20th October 2024 - 'Celebrating Local Heroes' at St. Bartholomew's Church

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir performed the 'Celebrating Local Heroes' Concert on Sunday, 20th October 2024. Susan Robertson was the guest artist.

£500 was raised for the Church and £500 for the RNLI, who also raised an additional £273 from the raffle.

Friday, 25th October 2024 - The Maritime Centre, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir gave two performances at the 'Celebrating Over 70 Years of Town Twinning' event on Friday, 25th October 2024.

Guests from the City of Remscheid in Germany were welcomed by Ashington and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Town Councils.

Sunday, 10th November 2024 - Newbiggin Remembrance Day Service

Members of Ashington & District Male Voice Choir supported Remembrance Day Services on Sunday, 10th November 2024.

They were at Ashington and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea at 10.45am and Bedlington at 2.15pm.

Friday, 14th February 2025 - Charity Musical Evening

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir took part in a 'Charity Musical Evening' at Newbiggin Sports and Community Hub on Friday, 14th February 2025 to a 'sell-out' audience.

The Choir helped to raise £700 each for 'Brighter Storeys for All' and 'RNLI Newbiggin'.
