Ashington - A Heritage in Music

Ashington & District Male Voice Choir has embarked on an exciting and prestigious project to promote the heritage of its hometown, 'Ashington', through music.

The Choir already includes many numbers in its existing repertoire about coal mining, as well as Northumbrian and Tyneside folk songs.

At the end of 2024, the Choir commissioned its musical director, Neil Morton, to create a new suite of music about 'Ashington'.

Five new songs will be launched in a 'Heritage Concert' at St. John's Church in North Seaton, Ashington on Saturday, 21st March 2026 at 7.00pm. This will be the start of a celebration of the 110-Year Anniversary of Ashington & District Male Voice Choir and followed by a series of regional heritage concerts across Southeast Northumberland and Tyneside during 2026.
